Craft & making · Sheffield

One of the biggest outdoor art markets in the north, and it's held in one of Sheffield's loveliest green spaces rather than a hall — marquees and pavilions of painters, printmakers, ceramicists and sculptors spilling across the lawns of the Botanical Gardens, plus an Open Art Competition and a dedicated "Home and Gardens" section if you're after something for the house rather than the wall.
It's the kind of event you can do properly in an hour or lose an entire afternoon to, wandering between stalls with an ice cream. Under-16s go free, so it's an easy one to bring the family along to without it turning into a museum-hush affair.
