The Legendary Llangollen Faery Festival

The UK's biggest fairy-themed event, now in its 15th year, set against the Dee valley just outside Wrexham — wand-making, storytelling, circus skills, live music and a dragon called Hemlock to ride, most of it included in the entry price. It sounds like a niche novelty until you're actually there and see how completely small children (and a fair few adults in wings) lose themselves in it for a whole day.

Prices have been held for the fourth year running, which is rare enough to mention — a proper low-cost, high-joy day out for anyone with under-10s in tow.
