Greenwich Makers' Market

Greenwich Market at the weekend is one of those rare London things that hasn't been flattened into a food-court version of itself. Under the Victorian glass roof you'll find potters who actually threw the mugs that morning, screen-printers, a woman who binds notebooks by hand, and enough small-batch food to make lunch a decision rather than a chore.

Go early — before eleven — for the calm version, coffee from the corner, and first pick of the ceramics before the good pieces walk out the door. It pairs beautifully with a wander down to the Cutty Sark and the river afterwards. No tickets, no turnstiles, just a genuinely lovely couple of hours.
