Food & drink · Exeter

Greendale Farm Shop takes over the courtyard of Exeter's ruined Norman castle for a day of grazing your way round 80-odd Devon producers — cheesemongers, cider makers, bakers, and a serious spread of street food from Thai to Caribbean to the Greendale barbecue itself. It's free to just wander in, there's live music and talks running through the day, and kids are properly catered for rather than an afterthought.
Go for the setting as much as the food: eating a pulled-pork bap in the shadow of an 11th-century gatehouse is a very Exeter way to spend a Saturday. Turn up hungry, bring cash for the smaller stalls, and treat it as a grazing lunch rather than a sit-down meal.
