A National Trust for Scotland dog-show day on the lawns of a 17th-century house, with deliberately silly categories — scruffiest dog, golden oldie, best rescue, fancy dress — alongside food, drink and shopping stalls. Genuinely local and community-run rather than a big commercial dog show.
Turning up with just your dog and no plan is completely normal here — half the fun is the running commentary from whoever's judging. A relaxed one for the whole day.
