Craft & making · Canterbury

A proper local makers' market rather than a mass-produced craft fair — Kent artists, potters, printmakers, jewellers and small food producers set up inside Westgate Hall's bright, high-ceilinged community space just inside the old city walls. It runs monthly and August's edition falls a fortnight before the autumn one, so it's a good moment to catch summer-made stock before Christmas ranges take over.
It's small enough to actually talk to the people who made what you're buying, and Canterbury's compact centre means you can fold it into a wider wander — Westgate Gardens and the river are two minutes away. Good one for a slow Saturday morning, solo or as a couple.
