Practical notes
Check tide times before you go — some of the best beaches shrink dramatically at high water, and rock-pooling needs a low tide. In summer, coastal car parks fill by mid-morning, so arrive early or use park-and-ride where offered. Dog rules vary: many beaches ban dogs from busy sections May–September but welcome them off-season and at quiet ends year-round.
